Pet Microchipping

Did you know that the American Human Society estimates that one in every three pets is separated from their family at some point in their life? This makes a permanent form of identification very important! We use the Avid microchip at Broward Animal Hospital.

We use radiology for internal imaging. Radiology is an excellent diagnostic tool.

Spay and Neuter for Your Pets

We recommend spaying and neutering for all pets that are not to be used for breeding. Spaying and neutering has a number of health benefits that make it very valuable. We recommend spaying be completed when a pet is between 5 and 6 months of age, and always before females have entered their first heat cycle.

Spaying and neutering reduces unwanted behaviors including escaping and marking, and can also significantly reduce the risks of health problems. Mammary tumors in females and prostate problems in males are less likely, while ovarian, uterine, and testicular problems are entirely eliminated.

Pet Vaccinations

We do not believe in one-size-fits-all vaccinations for pets. Each pet’s vaccination protocol is determined by the lifestyle of the pet. The lifestyle needs may be determined by your pet’s outdoor activity, frequency of travel, and the like. Most pets will receive their initial vaccinations when they are a puppy or kitten and then will receive boosters, as needed, throughout their life.

Some important vaccines include:

  • Rabies vaccine and tag, which is required by law
  • Distemper/Parvo/Parainfluenza
  • Canine Influenza
  • Bordatella/kennel cough, which is recommended, and in some cases required, for boarding, grooming and dog parks
